The third day in Tobelo, we went to Duma to visit monument where 204 people died defending their faith in Jesus. It was really a moving experience to actually stand there in the ruins of the church and knowing that during that time, there were hundreds of people fasting, getting on their knees and praying to Jesus. The war started in Kao between Christians and Muslim. The Christians were attacked for 18 times in 6 months and the church was surrounded by thousands of people. Even though they were outnumbered, but God heard their prayer and protected them. The ‘enemy’ was not successful in their attack. Until June 19th, 2000, they were attacked for the 19th time. It might be because of tired of praying and fasting for 6 months, they were weaker in spirit, they were not as alert, and unfortunately the devil sneaked in, and the church was bombed. Men, women and children were attacked and killed. Surprisingly, one of the survivor mentioned to us that the armed forces were also attacking them. They could have just ran away to other cities or denied their faith but they were there, standing up for their faith. These people are the real martyrs of Christ.
Later in the afternoon, we had devotional which was led by Mr. Jemmy Pranyoto. In the evening, some of our team gave a Love, Sex and Dating seminar and about 55 people came. At the same time, some of us went to the orphanage and about 60 people came and praise the Lord about 14 people received Jesus as their savior. At night, before the crusade, the weather was raining really hard but God’s favor was with us. The rain stopped and about 8500 people came and 50 children came. Also, about 50 children received Jesus Christ as God and savior. Praise the Lord that about 300 people received Jesus and 5 people healed during the crusade
